The category has been identified as “sets of IT capabilities and related services that enable healthcare organizations to achieve health, cost, and experience goals for a discrete population of individuals.”

PHM as a technology category has been mentioned in the “slope of enlightenment” phase in the Hype Cycle with a “High” Benefit Rating which indicates this technology enables new ways of performing horizontal or vertical processes that will result in significantly increased revenue or cost savings for an enterprise.
