Former Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) joins Innovaccer’s Strategic Advisory Board to help accelerate data modernization and digital transformation across state health and human service agencies
SAN FRANCISCO — June 1, 2023 — Today Innovaccer Inc. announced that Jami Snyder, president and chief executive officer of JSN Strategies LLC, and the former Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), has joined Innovaccer’s Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). With over 20 years of public health and human services industry experience—including regulatory oversight, policy-making, and leadership development—Ms. Snyder brings a wealth of knowledge and a history of passionate advocacy for access to quality care for underserved populations to Innovaccer.
Ms. Snyder will play a pivotal role helping Innovaccer create and refine strategies to modernize state Medicaid Enterprise Systems. She will focus on helping Medicaid leaders in public health agencies improve public health outcomes by enabling digital information exchange and data-driven decisions using Innovaccer's industry-leading data platform, population health, patient engagement, decision support, analytics, and interoperability solutions.
"I look forward to collaborating with the Innovaccer team and its customer partners to develop innovative ways for state Medicaid agencies to harness the power of cloud technology, data and analytics, and integrated workflows," Snyder said. "Embracing digital transformation is a critical element to improving health outcomes, particularly for underserved populations, as well as reducing the cost of care for Medicaid through value-based models. But optimally managing these complex models is very difficult to do—if not impossible—without a modern data platform supporting your Medicaid Enterprise System."
In 2019, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey appointed Ms. Snyder as Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. AHCCCS, Arizona’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), offers access to quality care to more than 2.4 million of the state’s residents at an annual cost of $22 billion. During her tenure, Ms. Snyder spearheaded efforts to stabilize the state's health care delivery system, including successfully navigating the pandemic’s public health emergency. Her leadership also resulted in the approval of the Housing and Health Opportunities demonstration as part of the program's 1115 waiver renewal.
Prior to joining AHCCCS, Ms. Snyder served as Associate Commissioner for Medicaid/CHIP for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. She was responsible for administering Medicaid and CHIP programs that supported over 4.7 million Texas residents with an annual budget exceeding $40 billion. Ms. Snyder also served as the president of the board for the National Association of Medicaid Directors from 2021 to 2022, and in May 2023, she was appointed to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC). She also served as the Chief Operating Officer for The University of Arizona Health Plans from 2014 to 2016.
"Ms. Snyder has been a dynamic force advancing the public health agenda, transforming ideas such as whole person care, social determinants of health, and health equity into concrete policies that have had a real impact on the communities Medicaid serves,” said Abhinav Shashank, co-founder, and CEO of Innovaccer. “Innovaccer and our customers will surely benefit from her forward-thinking and vision, and we are confident she will drive strategic value across the public sector markets we serve. Her expertise will further accelerate our work helping Medicaid agencies nationally modernize, integrate, and analyze their data infrastructure to improve patient access, outcomes, costs, and equality.”
Ms. Snyder holds a master's degree in political science from Arizona State University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
